TruckerBomb serve up another stellar single on "Mobridge, South Dakota"
Review by Austin Sher
Kicking off the year on a high note, TruckerBomb have made their return with a stellar new single, “Mobridge, South Dakota”. We’re loving it! Do yourselves a favor and check out our detailed thoughts on the track, as well as a refresher on the band.
In case you forgot, we covered TruckerBomb’s debut single, “Irregardlessly” this past November. Thankfully, they’re back with a bit of a departure from their up-tempo rock sound they delivered initially. On “Mobridge, South Dakota”, the band has shared a reflective set of lyrics that evoke emotion and melancholia perfectly primed for the winter months.
As the band continues to release and shape their overall sound, we can’t help but to continue to hang on and love every second that gets shared with us. True country music is consistently feeling like a lost art, or at least a genre of music that tends to get blended with something of the mainstream. At least on this single in particular, TruckerBomb takes it back to its roots and emphasizes what country should sound like.
Being based in Los Angeles, this specific recording was produced and recorded by Fernando Perdomo at Reseda Ranch Studios, with additional recording that was done at Only Child Studios in West Los Angeles. For all that worked on this song in any capacity, we hope you’re reading, because we can confidently tell you it turned out wonderful.
At just a tad under five minutes in its runtime, “Mobridge, South Dakota” takes you on a journey, mainly lyrically, that allows for the listener to listen closely and let the full point across. The song doesn’t rely on cheap gimmicks or any wild surprises, rather it’s a slower track that doesn’t stray too far instrumentally. After multiple listening sessions though, we can only summarize that it’s pure in its intentions and serves the purpose of painting a picture with its words.
Considering that this is just the second officially released single coming from TruckerBomb, they continue to have us waiting on the edge of our seats for what else they can come up with. Seeing that this was released so early in the year, we’re crossing our fingers that more is to follow, hopefully in the form of an EP or full length album. Obviously we would never want to rush the band into putting out rushed work, but we will let them know that we’ll be waiting patiently for a subsequent release.
With this all being said, we are highly recommending and suggesting you go ahead and give it a listen, you will not be disappointed. Enjoy
