Dread Fury shares another beautiful and insightful EP, "Catch The Wind While It Blows"
Review by Austin Sher
Recently released to the world, Dread Fury has delivered an absolute beauty on his newest EP, Catch The Wind While It Blows. Do yourselves a favor and please read along for our full review of the record, in addition to a background on the artist as well.
Currently based out of Ilford, Essex, UK, Dread Fury is a singer-songwriter who is the driving force behind this one man project. Creating an “invisible band” with his loop pedal, this multi-instrumentalist has master the guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and more. Directing his influence from legends such as Chuck Berry, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Lenny Kravitz, and too many else to name, it directly shows in his astounding new work.
Having built a reputation for being an incredibly exciting live act, it’s become quite impossible to not find yourself dancing during one of his sets. Honestly after listening, we hope the time comes very quickly to where we can witness it in person. Classifying his music as alternative indie soul, we confidently feel that this is one his best works yet after digging through his past discography.
Specifically on Catch The WInd While It Blows, what you’ll experience is a cohesive collection of six songs that best represent what Dread Fury is all about. Opening up the record with the EP’s title track, the aforementioned grooves that the artist presents are unprecedented. Having most likely created, produced, and finished this record during quarantine, we have to commend the artist on successfully finding the creativity and energy within to keep his long standing fans happy.
We’ll admit though, this was our first dive into the music of Dread Fury. With that being said though, we’re beyond happy that he came across our path when he did, because there’s a massive back discography that we know is now worth taking the time and listening to. We listened to 2019’s Choose Me EP, and to no surprise, it was a wonderful listening experience.
While it appears that his release schedule is rather regular in the sense that he doesn’t leave the fans too long without a single, EP, or record, we’ll certainly be keeping a close eye on what’s to come in the next year or so. Such a creative streak that he’s been on, especially on this most current release, we can only assume there’s more to follow suit soon enough.
Wrapping things up, we are without a doubt recommending and suggesting all give this record a listen, you’re going to love it!
