TROY highlights EP "Calvin Court", street performances, & musical influences - Interview

Intersecting sound between Pop and Rock, TROY has absolutely surpassed our expectations on his newest EP, Calvin Court. Luckily for us, we got the opportunity to sit down and speak with the artist himself to hear all the details. Watch our full interview below.

TROY, also known as Troy Doherty, is currently based out of Nashville in which he’s putting together memorable tunes that are primed for the masses. On his newest six-song EP titled Calvin Court, TROY has gone off and masterfully blended up the best sounds of Pop and Rock into a highly approachable and even more lovable record.

Well we’ve got no choice but to kick off this review and immediately point you in the direction, and give our suggestion, that Calvin Court needs to be next up in your listening queue. With that being said, we’ve also got to point out some of the highlights from our interview in case watching is too much of a hassle. On the origins of Calvin Court, TROY did his community a huge service over the last year of pandemic by playing 25 free live shows and ultimately had no choice but to name the record after the street he performed on.

Composed of captivating lyricism, an uplifting energy, and a massive dose of optimism, these six songs have legitimately put collective smiles on all of our faces. While the record is top notch on the production side of things, the heart and soul is what came through the most for us. We have thoroughly enjoyed listening to this record prior to its release and as fans of nearly everything both Pop and Rock, TROY’s expert blend of the two is unprecedented. For fans of either genre, there’s no doubt you’ll find something to dig into and fall in love with here.

Some parts groovy, some parts liberating, each song takes a different turn and has showcased the wide range that this artist can provide. We probably don’t need to convince you to listen anymore as we’ve made it quite clear what you need to do, which is why we’ll move on to letting you know that TROY is also a pretty fantastic person as a whole. Our conversation was meaningful and gave us an incredibly valuable insight into not only the type of person he is, but the immense amount of talent that he holds. It’s going to be quite interesting to see the direction he goes with his sound in the coming years, but no matter the change or evolution, we’ll be listening.
