Pritt & S.A.M. collaborate on culturally diverse LP, "Take 2"

Without a doubt, this is one of the most exciting collaboration albums that has come our way in quite some time! Read on for our full review of Pritt and S.A.M.’s latest record, Take 2, in addition to a background on these talented artists.

For those out of the loop, Pritt is a rising R&B star based out of South London and S.A.M. is a lyrical connoisseur based out of North London. Together they’ve collaborated on a truly versatile collaboration and creative crossover titled Take 2. We’ll just have to kick things off here with our highest recommendation and a huge urge to give it a spin through.

While both artists are certainly different within their own respective styles, the yin and yang of it all was what sold us nearly instantly. Influenced together by Afro Caribbean, Western Sounds, female empowerment, and so much more, Pritt and S.A.M.'s collective message throughout Take 2 is as clear as day. Co-written by this dream team, Take 2 effortlessly takes the listener through a wide variety of emotion and layers when one is going through the not so pleasant qualms of a toxic relationship.

Coming in at 8 total tracks, spanning just about 21 minutes, this is about as cohesive of a listening experience as you could ever hope for. While yes, there are songs that could be cherry picked into “singles”, we confidently feel that the record is best listened to from start to finish to really get the overarching message of it all communicated. Through powerful and original beats, flourishments on the instrumentation side, and a plethora of high points that could barely be contained, this is much of a work of art as it is just music.

While “365” and “Smoke & Mirrors” kick the record off on a high note, the record swiftly turns into a collection of stories that are worth your listen. Take 2 will have you focused as a listener of course, but there’s enough of a groove from track to track that you might even find yourself dancing a little bit at points. Honestly, it’s just a wonderful blend of world music wrapped up in a personal experience that’s just begging to be listened to.

While it should probably go without saying at this point, we highly recommend yet again a listen to this album. It’s short enough to listen to repeated times and you may even end up in the rabbit hole of exploration within the artist’s solo work. With that being said, we’ve provided the important links below in order to listen and follow along with each artist. Enjoy!
