Betty Moon unleashes high-powered performance on album, "Cosmicoma"

Released officially on May 21st, 2021, Betty Moon is back with yet another astounding full length LP, titled Cosmicoma. We are loving it! Please read along with us for our full and in-depth look at the record, as well as a background on the artist as well.

Currently representing the Southern California music scene, Betty Moon is a producer and songwriter who’s been quite busy in terms of music creation. On her 10th studio album release, Cosmicoma, she’s managed to fuse a tight and succinct alternative rock tone that’s paired with her signature commanding vocals. Needless to say, we’ve fallen in love with this latest output.

With as frequent as an output that Betty Moon has had over the 5 or so years, the quality has only increased. Following up 2020’s Little Miss Hollywood, this rock driven and soulful sound on Cosmicoma cuts right to the artist’s roots. While Betty’s music is always experimenting in terms of sound as a whole, she’s always giving a nod to where she came from, and this release is no different in the slightest.

Coming in at 8 total tracks, spanning just about 30 minutes in total run time, this is the perfect bite size record that’s high powered, seemingly endless in energy, but ultimately guaranteed to light a fire under the listener. In terms of instrumentation, we felt that it was quite varied from start to finish in that there was enough going on to keep nearly anyone interested. Whether you’re a fan of the classics or the oldies, rock and roll lovers as a whole will rejoice once they dig in on the opener, “Black Bloods”. It was seriously the perfect introduction to what you can expect throughout the listen.

What we weren’t expecting as we were midway through the listen was the heavier sound that was displayed like on “I’m A Mean Girl”. It was aggressive in its tone and we couldn’t help but head bang along with the beat of it, it may have been our favorite track throughout. With that being said, there was a certain cohesiveness that came through, meaning we do recommend starting from the beginning and letting it play on through.

From the endless display of empowering vocals to the guitar riffs you’ll be replaying in your head, do yourselves a massive favor whenever you may be reading this and get into the record.
