Seamlessly incorporating bits and pieces of electronic, alternative rock, and pop music, Cam Coda’s debut EP Reify is a melting pot of sound and texture. For this talented artist, her introduction to electronic music came around 2008, and it wasn’t much longer after till she had originals of her own around 2014. What she’s managed to create here on this EP is not only compelling, but a massive dose of originality.

After attending Occidental College in Los Angeles, she was introduced to music production via Ableton Live through an online course. Paving her own path since then, she’s taken her influences such as Halsey, Bruce Springsteen, Hayley Williams, and many more, and infused everything that makes her unique as a person and a musician as well.

One of our first thoughts after our initial listen was, when can we witness this in a live setting? As Los Angeles natives ourselves, we sincerely hope a live show pops up or even something small and local so that we can witness the greatness that is Reify. At 5 tracks and just about 20 minutes in completed run time, there truly isn’t a single dull moment on the EP that makes you want to skip forward or bail out completely. Not only is the user captivated by a wide array of wonderful production effects, but Cam’s vocals hold the listeners attention from the opening moments.

Picking a favorite track would be an impossible task, which is why we’re just going to outwardly suggest a start to finish listen to really get the entire point across. One thing we will point out is to not be distracted by the wide array of sounds, there’s a message being communicated through the deep lyricism as well, you’ve just got to focus for a moment and make the important connections.

With such a wide array of genre influence, especially on the artist side, your thoughts going on might reflect a sense of confusion or hesitancy. Let us quickly shoot that down before you dig in, because this is complete, thought out, and is 100% controlled chaos.
