Tina Barrett showcases her storytelling skills on "Seventeen"
Our 2022 wish came true! Tina Barrett has made her swift return with an upbeat new single she’s titled “Seventeen”. Please read on for a closer look at the track, as well as a refresher on this artist.
Following up her debut single “Lovin You Is Easy”, Tina Barrett has done it once again on a moving and instrumentally fiery new song called “Seventeen”. Co-written by Barrett and Sarah Morey, it’s a vocally forward single that centers around “long-lasting young love”. It’s guaranteed to transport you back to these teen years of uncertainty, but in a way that shines a positive light on the past. Truly, we can’t wait for everyone to dig into the song as soon as possible.
Recorded at Off The Row Studio with producer P.T. Houston (Lady A, Randy Travis), you’re about to experience a piece of modern country that’s bursting at the seams with a youthful drive and effervescence lyrically, instrumentally, and mainly through Tina’s vocals. We made ourselves clear as day on our review for her debut that we loved what we heard and that it was a resurgence in a genre that needed it so badly, but also that whatever came next was going to be difficult to follow up. To no surprise in the slightest, she really has gone above and beyond in creating something that toes the line of angsty and optimistic.
With so many promising artists coming out of Off The Row Studio, Tina’s aura fits in perfectly with the crowd that they’ve assembled. Nashville is clearly the place to be at the moment and it instantly has us wondering how she’ll manage to one up herself again. In our eyes, Tina’s formula has been found and we wouldn’t really want to see too much of a divergence in sound or style. What we enjoy the most about her music as a whole is her storytelling and the ease of following along with her life experiences. Each song is like a chapter of her life and we’re just waiting for the rest of the book to unfold.
