Brenda Carsey & Mvkvdi collaborate on meaningful single, "Stand Up"
After a brief hiatus, we’re beyond thrilled to say that Brenda Carsey is back and has delivered a masterful new track she’s titled “Stand Up”. Please read on for an in-depth look at the single, as well as an update on the artist.
For those out of the loop, Brenda Carsey is a Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer who has proved once again that she can do it all. Collaborating on her newest single “Stand Up” with Congo-born producer Mvkvdi, the two have put something together both meaningful, focused, and full of heart. It’s engaging from the opening notes and will keep you laser focused on what’s coming next throughout. Needless to say, we sincerely enjoyed our listens and think everyone out there will feel the same.
Combining elements from R&B, Soul, and glimmers of alternative Hip Hop, “Stand Up” is a song that isn’t lacking in the lyrical department either. With its goal to call for “unity and understanding in this time of deception, division, violence, and alienation”, Brenda so effortlessly produces a vocal performance that lures the listener into every line. You get sucked in by the hypnotizing beats, but the mixing on the song really does highlight her voice in a way that steers your direction towards the context and deep themes being presented.
As we’ve covered her in the past, this certainly feels like a dynamic shift in sound from what we’ve previously heard. Considering just how versatile she is in her production outside of her solo work, “Stand Up” has definitely brought in genre-spanning moments that capture the spectrum of sound. If you’re unfamiliar with her past discography, we wholeheartedly recommend that you do a deep dive to really experience first hand her evolution in sound and style. There’s so much to explore and now we’re hoping this is just the first of a string of singles to be shared in 2022.
