The Bloodstreams craft a genre-blending single, "Clockwork Man"
A blast from the past in terms of sound and style, The Bloodstreams’ latest single “Clockwork Man” is a nostalgic rocker that we’ve quickly come to love. Please read on for our full review of the track, as well as a background on this emerging band.
Providing their take on mundane life, this South East London band better known as The Bloodstreams have delivered something big on “Clockwork Man”. Slightly experimental in its instrumentation, but mainly sticking to an alternative rock nature, the band has flawlessly incorporated guitar tones of the 60’s and a horn line from the 80’s. There’s a ton of influence going on here, but they’ve still effortlessly made it their own. Without a doubt, this is a song and a band you’re not going to want to miss out on.
Now while the sound is definitely front and center on “Clockwork Man”, the band have put a ton of time and effort into their clever lyricism. A favorite line of ours was “I’m harmless when I’m legless But I’m out on a limb", among plenty others that were noteworthy. With so much more music headed our way sometime in 2022, it’s certainly going to be interesting to see how they continue to evolve their sound. You’ll notice the fusion of classic rock, pop, and grunge, but glimmers of the modern era show themselves too. Whatever label you’d like to slap on it, The Bloodstreams are succeeding in crafting something both original and fresh sounding.
Having listened through now way too many times, there’s an unprecedented energy that lets us know how well this would translate in a live setting. While they’re quite far away from our base in Los Angeles, here’s to hoping we get to see this sooner rather than later. We’ve already done a deep dive on their discography which has shown there’s plenty of gems left to uncover, so at this point, we’re just waiting on the global tour! In the meantime if this is your starting point, “Clockwork Man” can serve as a proper introduction into a band that’s checking all of our personal boxes.
