The Revived tease new album with a lead single, "Better"
Following up their 2021 record In Via and giving us a taste of what’s to come, we’ve quickly fallen in love with The Revived’s latest single, “Better”. Please read on for a closer look at the track, in addition to a background on this band.
Currently based out of Baltimore, Maryland, The Revived are an alternative rock band that was formed around 2013. Staying incredibly consistent in their releases since then, they’ve passionately put together an ever evolving sound that bases around dynamic vocal performances, complex instrumentations, and a plan to always keep the listener guessing. With a new record called Identity on the way, this is the lead single, and we honestly can’t wait for everyone to give it a spin as soon as possible.
Building up the suspense in the first moments of the song and finally exploding to something climactic was not what we were expecting, however it instantly sold us on The Revived’s sound as a whole. Our initial impression after listening for the first time was just how incredible this would translate in a live setting, and after seeing that the band has been quite busy touring over the past year or so, we can’t wait to head to a show ourselves. With so much more on the way in the coming months, now’s the ideal time to really hop on their bandwagon.
We could sit here and pinpoint all of our favorite moments of “Better”, but let us just give you the highlights for now. While the band has definitely stemmed their sound from alternative rock, there’s so many more elements and genres that fuse to make them unique compared to the rest of the pack. There’s a sort of punk and emo resurgence happening at the moment and we definitely felt that passages of the track had glimmers of those sounds and styles. It’ll certainly grab hold to the rock listener immediately, but those looking for something a little deeper and complex will undoubtedly fall head over heels with it.
