Prince of Sweden shares a highly complex single, "Garrison Lane"
Showcasing his musical prowess as a skilled storyteller, Prince of Sweden has made a swift return with a wonderful single, “Garrison Lane”. Read on for a closer look at the track, as well as a background on this artist.
Following up his debut EP Live from a Dark Room, we’re thrilled to say that Prince of Sweden is back with a soulful new single titled “Garrison Lane”. Recorded in alt-J’s studio in East London and heavily inspired by Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen, this artist has still gone above and beyond in creating something that incorporates his own signature style to the mix. If this is your introduction to the artist, prepare for a dose of greatness as soon as you hit the play button.
Centering the song around his vocals that double as both the narrator and the entertainer, we were quickly enthralled with his delivery. You’ll notice it immediately, but he borders it on singing and spoken word, something that we don’t often come across yet it works seamlessly with the tone of the music. Eventually though, “Garrison Lane” explodes with a fiery instrumentation just as the story really picks up and crescendos into the final notes. Nearing almost six minutes in length, he leaves nothing to the imagination and has served up a fully fleshed out song that completes its thoughts entirely.
What we enjoyed so much about this piece is just how non-traditional it really was. It’s not often that a song instantly grabs our attention with its minimalism, however piques our interest with a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. Mixing together both a compelling story, instrumentation, and vocal delivery has proved to be a recipe for success and we sincerely can’t wait to dig into the rest of his discography. Seeing as though this is the Prince of Sweden’s first single release of 2022, let’s hope it’s not the last and that we get a follow up soon enough.
To say this song is complex would almost be an understatement as it stands on its own in a genre that we’re having trouble putting a label on. Please, be your own judge and check this one out immediately. We’ve included the important links below to follow along, listen, and of course to stay tuned for more.
