Swish Da God kicks off 2021 with another winning single, "Flashy"
With his first release of 2021, Swish Da God is back with his latest track, “Flashy”. To no surprise in the slightest, it’s bound to get you moving. Read along with us for our full track review, in addition to a background on the artist as well.
Also known as Godzilla or Samurai Swish, Swish Da God is the project of Antoine Nathaniel Free. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, this artist takes influences and inspiration in his music from Lil’ Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Tupac, Drake, and so many more legendary talents. On top of hosting his own podcast, The Instinct, Swish stays busy by consistently putting music that deserves all the hype it gets.
Swish Da God’s musical history goes deep though, as he’s been songwriting since the age of 7 and performing in public such as churches or talent shows. In addition to being one of the prominent faces of the LGBTQ community, his fan base is growing by the minute as each new track he delivers continues to up his presence.
Specifically on “Flashy”, this is just the type of energy we needed at the beginning of the year. At only a little over 2 minutes in runtime, Swish manages to pump it up and deliver the hard hitting and memorable lines as he always does. With a backing beat that makes you want to bounce, and an incredible smooth flow, it’s not a surprise that “Flashy” is as good as it is.
With an expanding discography like his own, we’re seriously hoping that we’ll see another EP or even a full length record come by the end of the year. A follow up to 2020’s All or Nothing (Demo) would be incredible, but it’s not our job to rush an artist into putting out more work, it’s our job to review the bangers he releases.
Additionally, seeing that he’s fairly early in his career, at least in terms of releases on his Spotify page, we’re thrilled he crossed our path when he did. There’s nothing better than having a blossoming talented artist cross your path so early on. It gives the opportunity to music blogs like us to keep up with what they’re doing, provide constructive feedback, but also see the trajectory of how bright their star can shine.
What we’re really trying to get at here is that we’re highly recommending you take the time out of your days to give “Flashy” a listen. It’s virtually impossible for it to not put you in a good mood, so get listening!
