Knafo creates his own world on inspiring album, "Key For A Stranger"
Debuted on January 31st, Knafo is back with an awe-inspiring project in the form of a new album, titled Key For A Stranger. We are loving it! Please read along with us as we share our thoughts on the record, in addition to a background on the artist.
Currently representing the Montreal music scene, Knafo is a singer, songwriter, and producer, who has quickly proved he can do it all. On this record, the artist plays all the instruments, sings, records, produces, and even masters. After hearing the wonderful production from start to finish, we couldn’t help but be incredibly impressed by the output.
After changing directions in his career from designer, to marketing entrepreneur, and now music aficionado, Knafo is crafting thought provoking music that in our opinion, deserves your undivided and close attention to detail. With a handful of records already released, the artist is back with a reinvention of himself, in which he has aimed to create a more emotionally rich, cohesive, and thoughtful approach to his overall sound.
Coming in at 11 total tracks, spanning 43 fantastic minutes, we were taken aback immediately from what we heard on the record opener and title track, “Key For A Stranger”. The way in which it automatically catapults you into another world of atmosphere is like nothing we’ve heard in a while. While we initially made comparisons to something that Radiohead would put out, as we listened on that opinion changed as the record took a slightly more electronic direction.
From start to finish, we couldn’t help but pick up our jaws off the floor from how innovative and inspiring this was. You might be thinking to yourself, really, are you just saying that and don’t actually mean it? No, seriously, these were our honest opinions as we listened through. By the end of our first listen, we had already made the decision to go through the rest of Knafo’s discography. Seeing as though it goes quite deep, we’re really looking forward to seeing the progress the artist had made from the beginning of his career to now.
With this all being said, it should be overly apparent that this a record we’re recommending. We could go into more detail regarding favorite songs, but honestly, it would be pointless as it would be a series of nitpicking back and forth with ourselves. In this scenario, just do yourselves the favor and give it a cohesive and focused listen. This is the type of record that we’d suggest listening to at nighttime, maybe even on a solo drive. Regardless of wherever you listen to it though, you’re going to enjoy.
