Happy Acres succeed on hazy debut single, "I Can't Stay Here with You"
Kicking off the New Year with a debut single, Happy Acres has officially shared his latest work, “I Can’t Stay Here with You”. We are loving it! Read along with us as we break down our thoughts on the track.
Written, recorded, and produced by one person in a bedroom, Happy Acres is the psychedelic pop solo project of Dale Ridgway. Honestly, we don’t have too much info on the artist besides that, but does it really matter when the music so clearly speaks for itself? As lovers of all things psych, we were incredibly impressed with the song as a debut.
Released on January 7th, Happy Acres’ “I Can’t Stay Here with You” is a fantastic representation of how we like our slightly trippy and experimental music. Featuring layer upon layer of reverb, guitar solos, and quite solid production value considering the circumstances, we truly hope it’s only a matter of time until we can hear more from the artist.
At just a little over three and a half minutes in runtime, the song hazily drifts on as the artist gets his point across within the lyricism. This is just the type of song we’d like to be listening to if we were laying out at the beach all day, going on a leisurely stroll or road trip, or something calming to wake up to.
Now for the uninitiated, we feel that some might be unfamiliar with psychedelic rock and just allude to the legendary artists like Jimi Hendrix or Pink Floyd. It doesn’t all have to be jarring, loud, or complicated music that most would presume. This is why we confidently feel that this brand of psychedelic pop is something that the world needs more of. Songs that evoke feelings of calmness, yet keep things interesting enough instrumentally so that they don’t sound boring. Happy Acres has beyond succeeded here in crafting that sound, and as mentioned, we really are looking forward to whatever else might be on the way. Considering we’re so early on in the year, our hope is that we can expect more in the coming months.
With this all being said though, it should come across as clear that we’re loving it! We can’t recommend it enough and will surely be giving it plenty of streams ourselves in the very near future. Enjoy!
