Ctyl6ts expertly engineers his second single, "Change"

Debuting his second single, Ctyl6ts (pronounced City Lights) is back with the productionally impressive “Change”. Needless to say, we are loving it! Please read along with us for our full featured review of the track, in addition to a background on the artist as well.

Alexander Storm, also known as the multi-instrumentalist musician and producer Ctyl6ts, has done it again with all new track that we haven’t been able to turn off. Featuring the vocals of Japanese Jazz singer, Maiko Hata, the two have paired up to create something truly outstanding.

Reminiscent of legendary artists such as Beck and Fatboy Slim, we’d also love to make the comparison to The Avalanches, mainly in the way that Storm manages to expertly sample his music across multiple genres. Now while he also has another project in which he goes under the pseudonym Aquarius, we’re going to keep 100% of the focus on Ctyl6ts.

After releasing his debut single “Move To The Beat” back in 2020, it was only a matter of time until he made his swift return. Thankfully for all the listeners and readers out there, you don’t have to worry, because the quality has not dipped in the slightest. In fact, after listening closely to each multiple times, we think this might be our favorite of the bunch.

Specifically on “Change”, the artist has masterfully infused his skills as a producer and guitarist to breathe fresh life into a track that also brings jaw dropping vocals from Maiko Hata. Together the two have succeeded in not only impressing us, but now we’ve got the lucky life long obligation of keeping tabs on what both of them are going to be putting out in the future.

With the inclusion of a big bass, a ripping rhythm section, and a guitar line that slowly yet steadily explodes into chaos towards the end, it’s no doubt in our mind that this is going to be a single we’ll be listening to for quite some time. It’s got us incredibly excited for what else is to come and seeing that this was released so early in the year, we’re crossing our fingers that more is on the way sooner rather than later.

To be honest though, when your inspirations are those who have mastered the art of music and production, we’re not surprised in the slightest that the artist has been able to accomplish what he has by following in their footsteps. It has hopeful for the future, but in the meantime, we’ll have “Change” on repeat.

With that being said though, it should be obvious at this point that this deserves a listen. For all tings Ctyl6ts, to listen, and to keep up with all future releases and information, please check out the following links below.
