Sonomancer shares his World Cup-ready single, "Stoppage Time"
A perfect timing release as we’re right in the midst of the World Cup, the artist known as Sonomancer has just shared an all new beauty titled “Stoppage Time”. Keep reading as we share our thoughts on this short but intense single.
Currently based out of Melbourne, Australia, Sonomancer is an electronic based artist who’s taking tons of cues from his influences, but still managing to carve out something special for himself. For fans of artists like The Chemical Brothers or Boards of Canada, his sound and style are certainly up your alley, but with a personal flair and personality attached too. On his newest single “Stoppage Time”, his second of 2022, Sonomancer has turned heads with his explosive production. Needless to say, we’re recommending everyone give it a spin as soon as possible.
Coming in at just two minutes length, Sonomancer wastes no time whatsoever immediately immersing the listener into his song. You can hear faint chanting, drums being played, and legitimately getting that feeling that you’re at a match in the most serious point. Quickly though, the introduction begins to fade out and the real adventure begins to take shape. The drumming speeds up significantly and it honestly embodies the feeling of what we can only imagine riding on a spaceship would feel like. Through the next 90 seconds of sound, a low flying anxiety hits as Sonomancer takes you on a journey that holds twists, turns, surprises, and an abrupt ending. If that’s our only real “complaint”, it’s that we wish this track were at least double or triple the length in order for it to really flourish.
Considering that this was our introduction to the artist, we didn’t quite know what to expect when hitting the play button. With that being said though, he’s clearly figured out how to build intensity and compose something that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Although this is just the second released song of the year, it’s given us more than enough interest to keep exploring more of what he has to offer. We’re urging everyone else to do the same!
