You just know it’s going to be a great day when Sarah Rae releases a new song! Back again with an instantly charming track titled “Selenite Soul”, we can’t wait to tell how much we’ve loved it. Read on for our full featured review.

For those out of the loop on Sarah Rae, this is an artist who’s changing up the genre of pop as a whole. Lending her spiritual-like vocals to the mix always, she’s done it again on an impressive new single titled “Selenite Soul”. Just like on her last one “Crimson Rose”, which we loved, we’ve got no choice but to highly recommend you give her latest a listen as soon as you possibly can.

For this Atlanta-based independent musician, she’s effortlessly utilizing dream, nerve, and pop-punk elements in order to create a unique yet enticing blend of sound. Leaning more on the dream pop side for “Selenite Soul”, we especially loved how she decided to approach the vocals with more of a lo-fi demeanor and put them towards the back of the mix. While they still provide so much power and energy into the song, the production and other fun effects get their moments to shine from the opening moments until the last.

Additionally, we also sensed a real influence of shoegaze coming into this song, which was quite reminiscent of the legends Slowdive. Similar in sound to Rachel Goswell, which in our opinion is a massive compliment, she’s bridging the gap between the old and modern take on a less appreciated genre. For us, we’ve needed to listen to this song a few times to unpack all that’s being delivered. We love that though, because it just goes to show that the song isn’t one note and goes much deeper in levels.

It seems as though everything Sarah Rae puts out these days is pure gold and we’re not going to be the ones to argue with that because it’s just the truth. So much love, passion, and innovation goes into each release which is why we’ll patiently be waiting for the next one.
