Just shared officially on October 22nd, 2021, Robbie Vonn has just released one of our favorite records of the year, Hopeless Memories. Seriously, this global collaboration EP is equal parts cinematic, optimistic, and incredibly experimental. In our eyes, he’s checked all of our personal boxes for what we consider something to be great and we sincerely cannot wait for all the readers out there to get their ears on this masterpiece.
Always striving to be instrumentally diverse and offering a wide range of sound from start to finish, this three song EP instantly piqued our interest. Featuring the divine vocals of Juliet Lyons on the entirety of the record, she’s brought a certain pureness into the mix that sets the tone from the opening notes. Filled with imagery-laden lyricism that evokes all types of emotions through its delivery, the pairing of that with orchestral interludes was the ideal combination and stylistic direction to take.
While it would be legitimately impossible to pick a favorite from the three, we’ll go ahead and highly suggest you start from the beginning, click play, and immediately get sucked into the world of Hopeless Memories. You’ll quickly find that each song takes on a life of its own through the atmosphere and moods, but mainly it feels like the emotions are being driven by the immense production effects too. That’s definitely an opinion you’ll need to form for yourselves as we all experience music differently, however going back in for a second listen will be mandatory to truly decipher it all.
Normally we’d try to compare the music to another artist or band to give you an idea, but this really is sort of in its own league, which is the highest of compliments. With so much music out there and a constant reinventing of the wheel, it’s records like this that restore faith in creativity going forward.
