Chris Zurich creates an exceptional new single, "You're My Crutch"
Putting on another stunning display of musicianship on his newest single “You’re My Crutch”, we’ve fallen head over heels in love with Chris Zurich’s latest musical output. Read on for our positive review of the track, in addition to a much needed background on this artist.
Based out of New York City, Chris Zurich is a singer, songwriter, and one of many who took the downtime of COVID and turned it into something truly magnificent. While he’s already shared an astounding amount of music in a short time, we can tell he’s getting better by the release in a really special way. “You’re My Crutch” stays true to that fact and has easily been one of our favorite releases from this emerging artist so far.
Right from the get go on “You’re My Crutch”. Chris lets the listener know within the feel of the song that his vocals are going to be the thing that has them coming back forever. Using some really inventive production techniques to layer himself and give that complex depth feeling to the sound, the song continues on to burst with emotion through his clever songwriting. The song is a rather ambiguous take on relationships and intimacy, but overall can be quite relatable if you construe the lyrics to your own life.
While of course he kept us hooked with every line delivered, one of the more redeeming factors of the song as a whole was just how expansive and atmospheric it really was. Listening on a nice pair of headphones is highly encouraged, mainly due to the subtleties in sound that you may not hear otherwise. We definitely would’ve been impressed either way if it featured none of those little extras, however the attention to detail is what will undoubtedly keep us following his journey as he continues to release. For a solo musician like himself, the start to his career has been flawless and has set the base for a bright future.
