Rkham gets deep within his lyricism on newest single, "BiPoLar"
Review by Austin Sher
Back with yet another gripping and lyrically dense new single is Rkham with “BiPoLar”. We loved what we heard here and we think you will too! Read along for our full review and a bit of background on the artist as well.
For those wondering, “Rkham” is a saying that speaks volumes and epitomizes exactly what the artist’s brand stands for. While he’s only two years into his music career, Rkham has been able to make an impact on a global scale, landing thousands of fans from Brazil, the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, and the United States. Since the release of his debut album, Pen and Paper, in late 2018, Rkham has eclipsed over 300,000 Total Streams on multiple platforms, while being able to perform and shoot in cities such as Chicago, IL, Nashville, TN, and Pittsburgh, PA.
Following up Pen and Paper, in 2019, was the creation of his own record label and merchandise company, NEW HORIZONS, This brought new opportunities for the artist such as the invite to join the Extreme Tour, located in Nashville, Tennessee and the opportunity to work with multiple labels, such as Bentley Records. As he kicks off this new decade of music, we’re all anxiously awaiting the release of Rkham's next project, a collaborative mixtape with his brother, fellow artist @connor, set to debut early this year, which helps paint the picture clearer on where Rkham is going.
While this was our first taste of Rkham’s music, it should go without saying that we were extremely impressed with the single. It checked so many boxes we look for when reviewing music of this genre. As much as it is a straight up hip-hop track, it really does feature so much more than that such as a lovely usage of electronic keyboards and synths that were utilized perfectly.
Seeing as the track only comes in at about two and a half minutes, we seriously wish it was longer! There were so many highlights such as the deep and expressive lyricism surrounding bipolar disorder. It seems as though artists these days shy away from talking about the tough subjects, but not Rkham, we highly commend him on getting the message out there and across to his fan base.
If we had to make one recommendation to the listener, it’s to listen to this song on the nicest sound system you’ve got, you won’t regret it. There’s a fair amount of subtleties in the song and instrumentation that you might be missing otherwise.
With all this being said, it’s about time you stop reading and start listening! For all things Rkham, to listen to “BiPoLar”, and to keep up with all future releases, please check out the following links below.
