Palocafe deliver a soulful debut single, "La Resaca"

Without a doubt, this should be the musical standard of a debut single. Palocafe’s first officially released track “La Resaca” is wonderful! Read on for our full featured review, as well as a background on how the project came about.

Written during a sunrise in beautiful Barcelona, Spain, Palocafe’s “La Resaca” is alive and ultimately well as a debut single. Formed by Javy Oso and Riky, originally from Colombia, Palocafe is now a six piece band that is located in Spain. After Javy came to Europe on a scholarship, he quickly fell in love with the country’s musical soundscape and has thus spent the last 10 years playing in different bands and orchestras.

Now we do have to give the heads up to our readers, but this song is entirely in Spanish. With that being said though, it doesn’t need a clear translation to immediately groove along and get into it. However, here is a bit of background information on the song for the non-Spanish speaker.

“La Resaca”, meaning the hangover, captures the juxtaposition of sadness and happiness in romance. The song itself deals with complicated themes, but does it in a way that feels like a bright and cheery exploration into talented musicians' music. It was record in Koriland Studios with engineer Raúl Cuevas and mastered in Metropolis Studios by Stuart Hawkes. The song is polished, clean, and has set an impressive base for all that is set to come out from the band in the coming months and years.

As mentioned, there are six members of Palocafe, all of which are equally talented. To believe that all it took was for Javy and Riki to fall in love with a country, that led to building a band, and then releasing this song, it’s just wonderful as a story. Music is the universal language, and even though it’s difficult for us to understand the context of the song minus what was given to us, it doesn't’ harm the fact that this song is rhythmic and soulful.

With all being said though, it should not come as a surprise at all that this is a song and a band that we are highly suggesting. We’ve done the easy part and included all the necessary links below in order for you to listen and follow along for more, we know we will! Get into and enter with an open mind. Enjoy!
