Nayla Savannah succeeds on candid album, "Comedy & Tragedy"

Freshly released and stunning as ever, Nayla Savannah’s latest record Comedy & Tragedy is out and 100% worth your listen. Please read along for our full featured review of the album, as well as a background on the album.

Nayla Savannah is certainly mixing it up in terms of sound, especially on this newest record, Comedy & Tragedy. Coming forward with a spoken-word approach with a confessional tone, Nayla has proven to be as candid as can be on this personal experience she’s transformed into a new album. As mentioned, we are highly recommending a full and thorough listen.

According to Nayla herself regarding her music, “My sound is like spoken word with battle rap influences over ambient trap music”. Coming in at 7 total tracks, spanning just over 20 minutes in runtime, this record is detailing the inner workings of Nayla’s heart, through relationships and breakups. Recorded Homeroom Studios in Los Angeles, California, all members who had a hand in creating this deserve a massive congratulations.

Filled with challenging lyrics, a layered production, and jam packed with otherworldly talent, we confidently think that this may just be Nayla Savannah’s best record yet. It’s become difficult to overstate the candidness and honesty that is being displayed here, as it is right at the forefront of the listen. Blending up the subgenres of Hip Hop and playing the balancing act of spoken word, the delivery of lines are right in front of your face in the best way possible. There’s no deciphering what you might be hearing, as it is loud and clear.

Speaking directly on Nayla and her musicianship though, this was a masterclass in artistry. You have to assume that it wasn’t difficult to talk about these subjects that are personal to one’s life, which makes it even more impressive that she’s sending a message, but doing it in a beautifully wrapped up way. Combining the equation of the production, lyricism, and so many other factors, we can state wholeheartedly that this is a winning record.

With all that being said though, it should also not come as a surprise that we’re suggesting you give Comedy & Tragedy. To be perfectly honest, it’s about as real and as genuine of a record as you can possibly get. We know for a fact we’ll be keeping up with all subsequent releases, we hope you do too!
