Oh My God! Its The Church debut a highly experimental EP, "Revelations"

Putting something together like we’ve never heard before, Oh My God! It’s The Church have succeeded in carving out their own musical niche on their latest EP, Revelations. Please read on for a closer look at the record, in addition to a background on the band.

Self-described as “irreverent, bizarre, and larger than life”, you can’t help but instantly agree the moment you click the play button. Setting the stage for a cohesive story from start to finish, Revelations is an all new EP from Oh My God! It’s The Church, a band that has stopped at literally nothing to make us think, focus in, and ultimately fall in love with their purely original sound. If you’re looking for another record to listen to, stop what you’re doing, you’ve found it.

Taking inspiration from some of the current greats such as Tenacious D, Flight of the Conchords, and many more, the band have certainly left their signature stamp on Revelations. While the EP is certainly rock forward in all regards, there’s a legitimate story in the songwriting being told from the beginning. The band has created characters within the spoken word portions and managed to create both character arcs and compelling music all at the same time.

Signified as a “place where music is the religion and their soundtrack to our impending annihilation”, we found Revelations to finally push the envelope of music. Now we say that as major fans of their influences, however the immense amount of genre infusion here is truly wild. They span from funk to jazz to spoken word and back. Revelations is nearly the definition of keeping things experimental and loose, but there really is a cohesiveness that you’ll find if you listen closely. Prepare to dance, rock out, commiserate with new characters, and generally just have a fun time listening to something that oozes originality.

The point here isn’t to spoil, rather to get you all to hit that play button and get moving on a band that’s doing things right. With that being said, please go ahead and check out all of the links below in order to listen, follow along, and of course to stay tuned for all the news upcoming from the band. Enjoy!
