For those out of the loop, Nicholas Rodriguez-Fernandez is a singer and songwriter currently residing in Miami, Florida. Staying consistent in his musical releases, we were thrilled to have the opportunity once again to talk super in-depth about his newest album, Raw: Self Isolation, Vol. 3. This time around, it serves as an update to his life through the stories, with a bunch of fun covers thrown in that ultimately have context within the process. In our eyes, he’s done it again, and we sincerely can’t wait for everyone to watch and listen.
As the album name suggests, this new piece of work is legitimately as Raw as it gets. You’ll find scattered throughout a series of songs that feature a diverse instrumentation, however for the most part you’re going to find that it’s mainly Nicholas and his stories singing eloquently and painting a picture for the listener. Considering he’s a storyteller at heart, we do feel that the extra attention spent focusing on track listing to set up a bit of context was needed at the end. Of course getting to speak with him and hear where he was coming from was a must, which then urges the reader once again to not miss out on a fantastic interview.
Putting the record aside for just a moment, it really was a joy to get an update on an artist who’s music we deeply care about. Hearing that everything was moving in the right direction was a plus, but knowing that even more music is on the way, and that it’s going to be bumped up on the production, was a perfect sneak peek into the rest of the year. If for some reason this is your introduction to Nicholas’ music, this is certainly a great place to start, however there’s tons of other gems in his discography that are worth checking out.
