NJaM lets loose a complexly produced single & video for "Glitch"
Escalating into pure musical bliss as the song goes on, the artist known as NJaM has just shared something special with the release of “Glitch”. Keep reading as we break down our thoughts on the track, as well as a background on this inventive artist.
For those potentially out of the loop, NJaM is a multi-instrumentalist and artist who’s currently specializing in his own take within the indie pop and alternative space. Accompanied by an outstanding music video (attached below), the artist has kicked his 2023 into high gear with the fresh release of “Glitch”. Featuring a rich production, smooth vocals, and a whole lot of charm, this song has been on endless repeat since it first got sent our way. You know what to do by now, hit that play button whenever you can.
In only two and a half minutes of runtime, NJaM actually managed to have us picking our jaws up off the floor with how many individual moments we loved on “Glitch”. The song starts slow but quickly ramps up as new ideas, motifs, and focus shifting moments arise. On the background of it all lyrically, ultimately it’s a song about distrust in the sense of wanting your partner to be “open and transparent with you”. It’s an all too common reality of limited communication, and while the song serves its purpose covering these themes, we were easily more taken aback by the sights and sounds it has to offer. Sort of emanating a “glitch-like” feeling a la the song’s title, it’s surely a masterclass in what great production should sound and feel like in 2023. It’s not impressive anymore for things just to sound crisp and clean, rather this is an audible listening experience that provides physical reactions for the listener.
Though NJaM has been releasing music steadily since 2021, it seems as though every release has his sound leveling up in a sense. All at once, “Glitch” feels slightly minimalistic, but everything it has to offer is massive and grand. That statement absolutely contradicts itself and we know that, however it really only makes sense when you give this song a close listen. It screws with your head slightly and keeps you guessing what might come next. Given the runtime is so short, it’s primed for repeated listens and certainly something we’ll be coming back to in the very near future as well.
