Nicole Dash Jones does it again on high-powered track, "Deeper"
On just her second overall single and first release of 2022, Nicole Dash Jones is already turning heads with her single “Deeper”. Read on for our full review of the track, in addition to a background on this emerging artist.
Blending multiple emotions through sound that exhibit sadness, happiness, but all the while just make you want to dance, Nicole Dash Jones’ “Deeper” is an instant classic. Pulsating on the synthesizers and commanding in her vocal delivery, this track immediately delivers a sense of power through its production. If you’re unfamiliar with this artist, please prepare yourselves, because we confidently think she’s only on her way up.
On the background of the track, Nicole states “I consider the record a homage to the transience of love and a tribute to holding on to the feeling of what’s been lost over time whilst desperately trying to salvage my identity. I was overwhelmed by thoughts of the other person's mortality, but I also found fleeting beauty in carrying their weight of sadness in order to rescue myself at the time with which came a profound elate happy/sadness”.
Truly, as impressive as this song is sonically and instrumentally, it doubles as a lyrical masterpiece in the sense that it makes you want to get to know the artist. There’s a real sense of genuineness that flows through in the cadence of her singing. You’ll feel the passion and emotion flow through effortlessly, that’s for sure, but the structure of the song feels like it’s built on this difficult personal experience. Nicole has let us in on a facet of her life and for that there’s a vulnerability creeping under the song too.
With help from producer Samuel Hills, they’ve managed to perfectly encapsulate the nostalgia from the 1980’s but so modernly execute something that has come out in 2022. As mentioned, this is only Nicole’s second official single to date but the way that she’s put it all together has us quickly hoping there’s more to drop sometime this year. We’re obviously going to recommend a listen to “Deeper”, but don’t miss out on “Lego” either, it’s an absolute bop.
