Vortex Implosion creates a sonic exploration on self-titled debut LP

All set to release their self-titled debut LP, Vortex Implosion have something seriously special on their hands. We got the chance to preview the record, so please check out our full review and a background of the band below.

Written and recorded over the past five years, the wait was ultimately worth it because Vortex Implosion’s debut has delivered on all levels. Shockingly a solo project from UK-based multi-instrumentalist Rob Tornsett, he’s managed to pull a massive amount of influence into an album of concise songs and styles. Right from the start, it’s virtually guaranteed to suck you in with its diversity, and with release day coming on March 4th, you’re not going to want to miss it.

Pulling inspiration from Chic, Black Sabbath, Ozric Tentacles, and plenty more, Vortex Implosion’s project has fully deciphered itself by continuing to think outside the box. Coming in at 9 total tracks, each one is a sonic journey that sends you on a wild ride. Through our initial listen without any information on the background of the artist, it’s safe to assume that this is a full band playing in unison. Shortly after discovering that’s it one person creating everything gave us a profound love and respect for everything presented here. It’s honestly wild to think that one talented human being could come up with something so original and fresh sounding.

Rob has described his music as staying "within the parameters of Jazz, rock, folk, electronica and a bit of not really hip hop but close to it.". It’ll all make sense once you listen for yourselves, but a takeaway from the listen is really that this is an album that can certainly appeal to the masses. Wherever your love for music falls on the spectrum, let it be known that there’s something for everyone. March 4th can’t come soon enough, so please make sure you check this one out on release day, it’s a true beauty.
