Nick Noon shares an emotion-filled experience on outstanding EP, "A Jejune Affair"

Surpassing all expectations on his newest EP A Jejune Affair, Nick Noon has sincerely impressed us in all facets of his latest work. Keep reading as we take a deep dive into the record, as well as a much needed background on this artist.

Right off the bat, we’re hailing Nick Noon’s EP A Jejune Affair as a modern rock marvel. Having released a couple tracks prior to the big release, we had an idea of what to expect, but now having had the opportunity to experience it as one complete work, it’s absolutely fantastic. With help on the mastering side from Brian Lucey (Arctic Monkeys, Liam Gallagher), Nick surrounded himself with an extraordinary team and the final product speaks for itself. If this happens to be your introduction to this artist, this is an ideal jumping off point.

Coming in at just four total tracks that span around 17 minutes in length, every moment, nook, and cranny are filled with his artistic vision coming to light. Immediately as the opening notes hit, there’s a sort of nostalgic yet modern element that hits you as a listener. He sets the tone with a grand soundscape that only continues to flourish as the instrumentation builds, but once Nick’s vocals enter the mix, the music turns on a dime for something even more special. The opener “Costumes” is truly all you need to hear to continue your listen as it’s like a mix of everything right going on in indie music, but he’s somehow managed to still create a niche and completely signature sound of its own. In today’s musical landscape of constant rehashing and recycling, that’s a feat of its own that stands tall.

Though the instrumentation and production elements are over the top in the best way possible, what makes A Jejune Affair well rounded is his attention to detail on the lyrical side too. His vocals add to the allure and emotion infusion, that’s for sure, but he also gives the opportunity for the listeners to attempt to connect the dots within his own words too. Without a doubt, we already know we’ll be coming back for repeated listens to try to nail that portion down. As Nick is still very much an emerging artist, he’s setting himself up for an undoubtedly fruitful future that we’ll be following. It’s complex and dense works like these that give us faith in the indie rock scene, which is another major reason for everyone out there to hit the play button.
