Boxteles go above & beyond on enthusiastic & fresh single, "Harry & Bruce"
Sharing a slightly sarcastic and tongue-in-cheek song, but 100% fresh Rock, Boxteles have crushed it on their latest, “Harry & Bruce”. Read on as we take a much closer look into the single, as well as a needed background on this emerging band.
Continuing to elevate their sound based on past releases, Boxteles have simply gone above and beyond on their multidimensional new single, “Harry & Bruce”. Serving up layers upon layers of hidden meanings, all the while providing the listener with a power pop rock experience, we’ve sincerely enjoyed our multiple listens of this track. In the off chance this happens to be your introduction to the band, this is undoubtedly a perfect jumping off point to explore more.
On the background of it all, this song takes a look at the “superhero formula”. Essentially what that means according to the band is “when Peter Parker or Bruce Wayne lost a loved one, they got superpowers, but when our parents died, we got zilch”. Although it is always an unfortunate situation to lose a parent or a loved one, they’ve turned to inside jokes as coping mechanisms, which we 100% back up. In this scenario though, Boxteles have created a truly anthemic statement song that holds immense emotion, takes jabs at the whole superhero complex, and have actually managed to break the mold of the constant recycling within pop and rock. We mentioned its multidimensional capabilities above, but we promise once you listen it’ll pretty much click instantly.
At just a tad under three minutes, we suppose our only real “complaint” is that we wish it were longer because of the amount of fun, freshness, and originality it holds. On the vocals side, there’s an unfounded energy that’s nonstop from the beginning. The instrumentals are bright, vibrant, and will have you head banging. Then to round it out, you’ve got the messaging that thankfully isn’t another basic indie love song, making everything come together for a well rounded listening experience that we’ve loved listening to over and over.
With all that being said, we’re urging everyone to click those links below to listen, follow along, and of course to stay tuned for hopefully much more on the way.
