Gia G opens up to talk her latest EP, "Cosmic Wave" - Interview
Fresh off the release of her newest EP Cosmic Wave, we got the wonderful opportunity to sit down and speak with Gia Federico all about the in’s and out’s of the project. Please enjoy our full interview with the artist below.
Currently signed to Sliptrick Records, Gia Federico is an instrumental guitarist who has simply blown our minds with the complex compositions you’re about to experience on her EP, Cosmic Wave. Considering it’s her first solo project since 2019’s The Ladder, we’ve been patiently waiting on more, and the final product has been a resounding success in terms of inventiveness, ingenuity, and pure artistry. If this happens to be your introduction to the artist, we can think of no better way to start than with a listen of this.
Somehow managing to elevate her sound and show distinction from prior projects, she’s infused “jazz modal and scalar legato” into the mix that’s truly elevated every facet of the sound. Though each song is sonically different, we certainly found that there was a cohesiveness and signature essence that masterfully flowed from beginning to end. Furthermore, the actual title of “Cosmic Wave” fully embodies the feeling that this gives off. As a listener, you’re immediately immersed into the space that just goes and goes, holding your focus until the final notes. It’s an EP, so it’s definitely more on the short side, but it packs an instrumental punch that we know for a fact will keep you coming back for repeated listens.
Though we don’t want to spoil too much from our conversation with Gia, mainly because we’d love for you to listen, one of our favorite takes was attempting to get in the head of this artist to learn the process.
