Each moment smoother than the last, he’s 100% putting his own creative spin on a genre that needs it so badly. While the influence from others like Leon Bridges and Silk Sonic come forward, the originality of it at all is so pure and straightforward Micah.
For this Houston, Texas native, there’s a certain nostalgia that shows itself throughout this song and there’s plenty of contributing factors that play a part here. Filled up with a subtle horns section, that could certainly be part of it as it truly set the tone for a vintage feel, however Michah’s almost effortless vocal delivery is what gives “Girl From The Valley '' its beating heart from the opening notes. This right here is soul pop at its absolute peak and has us beyond excited for the next move from this emerging artist.
With a debut album on the way, we’ll be looking forward to seeing just how exactly he builds off of something so stellar like this song.
