Merry Christmas explode in sound on "The Flying Trombone Sisters"
Following up their full length album The Night The Night Fell, Merry Christmas have made their return with an end of year single, “The Flying Trombone Sisters”. We’re loving it! Read on for our full review of the track, as well as a background on the project.
Currently based out of Tokyo, Japan, Merry Christmas have stormed back with an emphatic new song titled “The Flying Trombone Sisters”. Starting out soft and embracing a fuzz folk sound and eventually exploding into a wall of sound, there’s no doubt in our minds this single could attract even the most timid of music listeners. We enjoyed every second of it and confidently feel that you’ll end up the same.
Before you get listening, we’ll give the warning that you’ll most likely feel the urge to dance, bounce along, or replay it based on how much you enjoy it. Now that you’ve been warned, let us give you a glimpse into this song. As mentioned, it starts out slow and suspenseful, but eventually climaxes to a series of fun instrumentation passages, all the while showcasing a unique vocal delivery. Before you ask if there's a trombone present, you guessed it, there is and it was a lovely addition.
Now of course we don’t want to give too much else away because we don’t want to take away the surprises. However we do feel the need to make sure you check out the music video too. As fantastic as the song was, the music video is just as good if not better with the pure craziness of experimenting with a green screen and tessellation art. You’d basically be missing out if you didn’t check out both.
Anyway, as this was our introduction to the music of Merry Christmas, you can probably understand by now that we’ve quite enjoyed exactly what we’ve heard. Without a doubt we’ll be exploring more of the band’s discography, but in the meantime, let us point you in the direction of those links below in order to get listening. You can also follow along to stay tuned for everything the band has on the way this upcoming year. Enjoy!
