Officially shared on October 20th, 2020, Megan and Shane have debuted a masterful new single, titled “Caroline”. We loved it! Please do yourselves a favor and read along with us as we break down our thoughts on the track, in addition a background on the duo as well.

Husband and wife, Megan and Shane, are making Alternative Country inspired music, all the while based out of Arizona. After meeting in 2008, they got married in 2013 at the Stax Museum of Soul in Memphis. Although it wasn’t just a typical wedding weekend, in fact the night before they recorded at the legendary Sun Studios, which kicked off their musical journey. Thankfully they did, because the music they’ve put out thus far has been impeccable.

Figuring out their final sound over the years, we feel that after listening to their discography in full, they’re truly the next great thing in country music. Specifically on “Caroline”, one of our favorite parts of the overall listen was that neither artist takes the spotlight. It’s a fair and careful display of splitting the work equally in terms of vocals, instrumentation, and passion into the music. The layered vocals that are featured give you an equal dose of both Megan and Shane, which is definitely what the listeners need.

After listening through “Caroline”, we had no choice but to go back and listen to the rest of their music. To no surprise, it’s also equally fantastic. While the overall genre of country isn’t always our go to listening, we will say that they’ve convinced us handily that they’re bringing something different to the table. As far as instrumentation goes, they’re keeping things light yet focused in their sound. Plenty of shredding guitars, rolling basslines, and stunning vocal performances have continued to lure us in. We’re here to stay.

What else do we need to say? If you’re a fan of Americana or Country in the slightest, or even if you’re not, this is a band on the rise that is worth checking out. At this point, you can say you knew before they blew up, we’re happy to spread the word.
