Officially released during the middle of October, Døza has shared his eclectic debut EP, titled Summer Magic. Read along with us for our full thoughts on the record, in addition a background and insight on the artist himself.

Filled with a varied instrumentation, lush electronic soundscapes and a magnificent vocal delivery that soothes the ears, Døza has wowed us with the release of this record. For those who may be unaware, Døza is an emerging singer and songwriter currently making his mark on the global music scene. His sound is distinctly melodic, fusing cinematic atmospheres to pop-perfect vocal lines. Ultimately, the artist has let us know that he’s going for a “timeless” style as he creates a combination of the classic sound to slick modern production. Inspired by artists like Travis Scott, Frank Ocean and Bon Iver, his unique approach to melody and harmony sets him apart, but the influences are surely there within the overall sound.

Growing up playing classical music and being classically trained on the piano, he added to his repertoire of music by teaching himself to sing and play a range of instruments before learning how to write and record in his teens. His music has taken him far and wide, having graced the stage at countless venues around the Central Valley. Specifically speaking on what we heard on Summer Magic, we were absolutely taken aback at everything that has come through our headphones.

Coming in at a total of six tracks, spanning twenty wonderful minutes, this record was certainly the perfect listen to cap off the hot days living in Southern California. Even if you’re not though, the beats and atmospheres created on the EP provide a set and setting to be listened to anywhere. There are absolutely more relaxed points and parts that “go hard”. The overall diversity allows for everything to be listened to either front or back, or split into different mood playlists as well.

While this was our first dive into the music of Døza, let it be known that it will not be our last. If he’s crafting such memorable jams at this stage in his career, we can only imagine the gold that is yet to come. Masterfully creating any amount of music during tough times such as these has to be difficult, but to go through with it and make music that makes people happy is nothing to bat an eye at. So with that, we commend Døza on the release of Summer Magic, we love it.
