Matt Strom crafts a heartfelt single with his latest, "Childish Drive"
With his fifth released single, Matt Strom is back again on another tremendously produced track, “Childish Drive”. Please read along with us for our detailed thoughts on the song, as well as an insight on the artist himself.
Before Matt Strom was churning out hit tunes, he was actually a United States Navy Diver who happened to have a long-time passion for music. After recently learning the guitar and going on to be selected as an Off The Row Studio Breakout Artist, life has only been looking up for this musician who turns his personal experiences into wonderfully scripted pieces of art.
Creating music to help other people in the same way that helped him was part of his many inspirations for going down the career path of a musician. Thankfully for listeners and mainly himself, he’s incredibly talented! Having just been introduced to him through this single, “Childish Drive”, we honestly heard all we needed to hear in order to want to keep up with the trajectory of his blossoming career.
On “Childish Drive”, the song immediately starts out on a high note as a series of drums and guitars into the mix. Not long after though it swiftly transitions into a slightly poppy, yet true to its roots country song. As impressive as the guitar work was throughout, the true highlight was how unique and commanding Matt’s vocals were. It almost pains us to know that he had been hiding it so long and that he just recently dipped his toes into making music for himself. Not too worry though, he’s here, he’s making music, and we’re here for it.
Productionally, this song was just about as smooth as it could possibly get. The layers upon layers of vocals and rhythms presented were lovely to the ear, especially on any nice pair of headphones or soundsystem. Make sure to crank this one loud when you give it a listen for the first time, we promise you won’t regret it. The emotion and conviction speaks volumes and you can really sense Matt means every word he passes onto the listener.
Overall though, this song is really a winner and has encouraged us to check out the rest of the artist’s discography, which to no surprise, is also a must listen. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the career of Matt Strom, but for now, give him a listen!
