Lungi Naidoo expertly crafts Afrobeat-inspired single, "Feel Good"
After a brief musical hiatus, we’re thrilled to announce that Lungi Naidoo is back with a striking new single of her own titled “Feel Good”! Please read along for our full featured review of her track, as well as a background on the artist.
Currently based out of South Africa, Lungi Naidoo is a singer and songwriter who has reemerged into the music scene with an Afrobeat single called “Feel Good”. As a teaser off her soon to be released EP Courage (Out on September 24th), she’s got not only us excited for this single, but everything that’s set to come in the very near future. Do yourselves a favor and listen in as soon as you can.
To begin, Lungi enlisted a super impressive team for the creation of “Feel Good”. Co-written by Ghanaian producer and artist, GuiltyBeatz, she also managed to get Donel Mangena & UK producer and songwriter Dantae Johnson. While writing the lyrics on this track, the artist was quite real in every sense of the word. Says Lungi, “This song is about me, in every way. Sometimes when you’re down you've got to envision your happiness as if you are already in that space. This song is about me giving praise in advance for all the blessings I am going to receive. To own one’s Queendom and feel good about it unapologetically.”
For us, the best part of this song was just how instantaneously danceable, high energy, and perfectly sculpted it really was. The only negative we’d have to say from start to finish is that we just wish it were longer, but realistically, we just know we’ll be replaying it over and over to try to capture that initial effect. What Lungi Naidoo has put together here is an ideal precursor to what we can all expect once Courage releases. At this point we’re less than 2 months away, so we’ll just be patiently waiting for the moment.
For a genre of music that doesn’t often get sent to us, it’s songs exactly like this that make us wish there was a lot more coming our way.
