Luka James unveils dreamy single & video for "Mist"
On only his second single released so far, Luka James has already surpassed our wildest expectations with “Mist”. We are loving it! Read on for our in-depth review on the track, in addition to a background on this emerging artist.
Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Luka James is infusing his music with hypnotic rhythms and an immense amount of passion. On the single, and music video, for his newest endeavor “Mist”, he’s put his silky vocals in the forefront all the while being backed up by an atmospheric instrumentation. We instantly clicked with it and confidently think everyone out there will as well.
Influenced by some of the best vocals of our generation like James Blake and Thom Yorke, what Luka has still managed to create in the originality department is carving out his own niche. While “Mist” itself is quite dreamy and complex in regards to the style, it’s still got those necessary pop hooks to reach a wide audience of listeners. It has proven to be quite soulful too in the way that he delivers his lyrics and melody. You get sucked in right from the get go and he doesn’t let you shift focus until those final notes at the end.
After hosting MusiCollage for many years, which is a New York-based group singing workshop, he’s clearly put that experience into play. Although this is just his second song out so far, even his debut “Hazy Dreams” was a certified hit in our eyes and definitely deserving of a play. It’s not all too often honestly that we vibe with an artist so quickly, or even for an artist to bring the quality so fast, but Luka is breaking the mold undoubtedly.
Paired with his music video for “Mist” that eloquently brings life to a song that’s already filled with it, we can’t help but recommend you check out both at the same time. There’s a well roundedness that comes off by listening and the visuals, so you’d basically be missing out if you didn’t.
