Lochlan Shaw debuts his compelling new EP, "And So the Light Returned"
Coming out incredibly strong with a debut EP titled And So the Light Returned, we’ve quickly fallen in love with the music of Lochlan Shaw. Please read along with us as we share our complete thoughts on the record, as well as a background on the artist as well.
Currently representing the music scene in North Yorkshire, Lochlan Shaw has masterfully engineered a debut EP filled with glimmers of pop and folk, wrapped up in beautiful acoustics. After a period of darkness in his life, this release represents a fresh start for Lochlan as he continues to find his way through artistry and a creative direction. We can’t help but overwhelmingly recommend a focused listen to this all new record.
Written during lockdown and recorded at the Cargo Rooms in London, And So the Light Returned is sure to resonate with music lovers across its wide spectrum. Intricate in its instrumentation and musicianship, yet delicate and concerted in its efforts surrounding the deep lyricism, you can feel the love and passion that went into its creation.
For Lochlan, he’s already achieved a lot in his blossoming career. After receiving support from BBC Introducing and regional radio play, he’s being invited to play live all over London at the moment. While this record isn’t actually out until May 31st, 2021, he’s already off to a hot start in terms of promotion and gaining the good graces of outlets all over the world. We’d like to think that our readers would absolutely love this listen, which is why we have to continue to suggest it.
At just five songs in total, it’s the perfect bite size record for those who have most likely experienced something similar to what Lochlan has gone through. He’s truly put his heart on his sleeve as a singer and songwriter here, especially when it comes to the themes being covered. Atmospherically it was quite impressive as a focused listen, mainly in the department of his acoustics. His playing really added another level to the mix, but the obvious stand out across the EP were his vocals. They were so unique, but so welcoming and inviting to the uninitiated listener.
We really cannot wait for the follow up, whether it be a single or another EP of ideas like this. In the meantime, we’ve included all the necessary links below in order for you to listen and follow along for whatever is next for the artist. We wholeheartedly hope you enjoy it.
