Leo Sawikin debuts compelling new single, "Row Me Away" off upcoming album
Next up in Leo Sawikin’s successful string of releases is another stunner that goes by the name of “Row Me Away”. To no surprise, he’s got another winner on his hands! Read on for our full analysis of the track, in addition to an introduction to this artist.
Expanding upon his otherworldly vibe that features glimmers of nostalgic grunge elements, Leo Sawikin’s “Row Me Away” incorporates sounds of the past, present, and future. Pulling influences from legends like Joni Mitchell and Smashing Pumpkins, Leo has self-described this single as “a daydream of a song that speaks of the yearning to escape to a new and better place - that simultaneously feels like home”.
While that’s certainly a lot to expect from an isolated song, it surely delivered on its promises. On our initial run through of “Row Me Away”, it’s taken everything that Leo has done right thus far and pushed his sound into a new realm. While we absolutely loved his latest release of “A Whole World Waiting”, there was something special that stood out on this one. While it may not be something in particular, it could be those top notch production techniques that have simply hypnotized us on our now multiple listens.
Looking towards the future and always wanting to evolve, there’s an immense amount of imagery filled lyricism present on “Row Me Away” that delicately invites the listener into the mind of Leo and allows to live vicariously through his personal experiences. Make your own connections for sure, but pay close attention to the word play and the context that is coming across.
While we’re obviously loving this single, we have some better news to pass along as well, his debut solo album of the same name (Row Me Away) is slowly preparing for a release on October 15th. It would be in your best interest at this point to listen to everything that’s been released so far and pay close attention to some surprises along the way leading up.
