Delivering an absolutely perplexing performance in the best way possible, we’re completely loving Scientific Automatic Palmistry from newcomer, Lee Switzer-Woolf. Please read on for a closer look at the album, as well as a background on the artist.

Released officially on February 7th, 2022 via All Will Be Well Records, Lee Switzer-Woolf has given his personal experience of the last year during lockdown. Infusing a slew of musical genres that feel like they span the spectrum of sound, music lovers everywhere are virtually guaranteed to vibe with the variety presented here. As a whole though, we can’t help but heavily suggest everyone check it out from start to finish.

Recorded 100% at home, this is essentially a folktronica record that capitalizes on laidback beats and a crisp production. Helmed by Lee’s velvety smooth vocal presence that helps to communicate his stories through expert songwriting, you’re going to experience a lot of introspectiveness that deals with relationships and personal history. Each song serves as a diary entry in our opinion and Scientific Automatic Palmistry is like taking a chapter out of the artist’s life.

At 10 total tracks in length, our immediate reaction after our initial listen was just how much of an honest feeling the record left us with. While some of the songs are more subdued in sound like “Uhtceare”, they challenge the listener to give full focus and actually pay attention to what they’re hearing as opposed to just being entertained by the instrumentation of it all. There are certainly some awe-inspiring tracks that go off in terms of sound, but some of the more minimalistic takes here are what we enjoyed more because they produced a sense of calm and relaxation. There’s something very warm about Lee’s vocals that slowly invites the listener to his life song after song.

For a debut record, you’d automatically think Lee had been making music like this for 20+ years. There’s such a professional sense in the song structure and it’s got us beyond excited for the inevitable follow up.
