Heddy Edwards excels on dream-like single, "Cherry Picker"
On just her second ever single, Heddy Edwards has already found a beautiful musical niche for herself on single, “Cherry Picker”. Please read on for our glowing review of the track, as well as a much needed background on this talented artist.
Transporting the listener straight back to the glory days of the 1990’s, Heddy Edwards’ all new single “Cherry Picker” is a total dreamscape filled with plenty of nostalgic moments. Fueled by her soft and silky vocal presence, there’s a strong message behind this one that is very personal to the artist. As a whole, this is a song that we’ve quickly come to love and can’t help but overwhelmingly recommend a listen to for everyone out there.
Accompanied by a slew of dream pop-inspired instrumentation, a nod to 80’s-style synthesizers, and an atmospheric production style, we legitimately felt like we entered a time machine after having listened. On the background of the track though, things get a bit serious as Heddy wrote this specifically as she attempted to find a happier version of herself after struggling with undiagnosed mental health issues and losing a loved one. Hopefully now feeling much better and on the right path, she’ll have this complete beauty of a song to refer to when the times get tough.
Honestly everyone out there who has dealt with something similar would be able to relate to this. The message is as bold as any other stylistic decisions in the song and it’s really a main driver of why we’ve enjoyed it so much. As it feels like so much pop-centric music these days gears toward gimmicky production techniques, there’s a definite sincerity and freshness to this that makes it break the mold of the new normal. Alluding to some greats like Mazzy Star and Soccer Mommy, we won’t be surprised when the name Heddy Edwards gets added to that conversation.
As mentioned, this is only her second single released thus far, but we’re practically begging at this point for a follow up sometime in 2022. This is the style of music we prefer personally, so we’ll take anything we can get Heddy!
