For these two sisters from Oklahoma, they continue to share music that is both introspective and truly wondrous in its context and sound. On their newest output, “Open up a Window”, this duo are back with a heartfelt single that instantly won us over in every regard of the song. Already charting on both the Adult Contemporary and Top 40 Billboard Charts, we highly recommend you get into it as soon as you can.
As mentioned, this track is following up their 2013 debut album Feel My Way, but we’ve got a strong feeling that they’re gearing up for even more. Specifically on this newest release though, Lavendine have put together a lyrically profound and innovative approach to their music. At just a little under four minutes in complete run time, you’re really getting the best of what they have to offer in terms of production, instrumentation, and a vocal delivery that’s impossible to forget. The sheer amount of emotion and passion present is enough to keep this track on repeat.
One of the main complaints we typically have about music that comes from a duo is the lack of sharing the spotlight. It feels as though an artist can sort of take over the mix and make themselves the star of the show, but it’s the complete opposite here. Each sister gets their moment in the spotlight and equally highlights what they’re best at without it feeling like someone is taking something away from the other. The shared responsibility overwhelmingly made for a better end product, and we feel that’s probably why were drawn to this song so much in the end.
Seeing as though the reviews are in all over the place and it’s a resounding “winner”, we can’t help but agree ourselves. It’s got us incredibly excited for the future and what else is to come, which is why we’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on future releases.
