Kevin Cartoon gifts another treat with his all new single, "Run It Back"
Review by Austin Sher
Releasing another treat this year, Kevin Cartoon is back with a fantastic new single, titled “Run It Back”. Do yourselves a huge favor and read along with us for our review of the track, in addition to a background on the artist as well.
For those unaware, Kevin Cartoon is a Houston-born songwriter, with a wide range of concepts and flow patterns. Kevin currently has 2 projects, and 3 singles on digital streaming platforms, along with a few singles on SoundCloud. He holds the Guinness World Record for the longest recorded cypher in collaboration with Barron Studios. At the moment, one of his coolest performances to date was at the official Colorado 420 rally, when he opened for Ice Cube.
We’ll be honest, prior to listening to “Run It Back”, we hadn’t had the opportunity to dig into Kevin’s music just yet, but we are so happy we did. Initially on our first impressions as the track opened, the incredible production and mixing stood out immensely. The sounds and atmosphere created immediately threw us into the world that Kevin had created, that’s before he even came into the song.
Within the first verse, Kevin proved his flow is for real. Seriously, not only his deep and personal lyricism, but the way that he executed thoughtful line after line, seriously impressive. The depth created on the song had us immediately wanting to go back into the rest of Kevin’s discography, which of course did not disappoint. We loved his 2020 album Primetime Deluxe and other recently released single, “Be A Model”.
Seriously though, even if Hip Hop isn’t your ideal genre to listen to, let Kevin convince you because this single is seriously fantastic. At this point though we’ve really just got to let you know that it’s time to stop reading...and start listening. Enjoy the track and make sure to check out the rest of his work as well.
