Following themes of longing, love, and torment, Josefin Silén has delicately put together a thought provoking and vocally striking EP titled Face the City. Featuring a stunning production that ultimately shines the light on her larger than life vocals, we loved each and every moment of our initial listening experience. Sincerely, we can’t wait for all the readers out there to enter into the world that she’s created by giving it a listen.
Getting intensely personal on the complex themes she covers within the lyricism, Face the City comes in at 4 total tracks (one of which is an instrumental), that spans just around 16 minutes in run time. For us, it was the ideal bitesize album to listen to that gave us the full spectrum of this artist’s sound and has expertly laid the groundwork for even better future projects. Showing off her courage and talent was one thing, but there seemed to be a never ending amount of positives too.
Currently based in Finland as a singer and an actor, Josefin Silén has been involved in writing songs since the young age of 9. She competed in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and was offered a record deal at only 18 years old. To say this musician is “just” talented would be an understatement, mainly because she’s proved to be so much more than that. We felt that this record was complete in all its motives and collectively left us all with shivers down our spines as we finished up our listening.
A recommendation that we can share is to listen to the record in full, as opposed to skipping around tracks. There’s a complete story being told that flows seamlessly from track to track. The EP is also on the shorter side, so you should definitely be listening from start to finish. She provides the full range of emotions across all the tracks and witnessing the journey has been nothing but a pleasure. We can’t wait for more! Get listening to this EP as soon as possible.
