Jill Fiore conveys an emotional message on single & video for "Away From Me"

For those out of the loop on Jill Fiore, she’s a singer and songwriter who’s always been vulnerable in her music, but certainly stepped it up a notch on “Away From Me”. While the song was formally released in 2021, it’s just gotten the music video treatment. Typically lyric videos are fairly on the boring side, but she’s significantly stepped it up and we confidently think you’d be doing yourself a disservice if you missed out!
On the background of the track though, “Away From Me” is quite deep beneath the surface. Having to do with “being silenced by grief after father passed away”, this song was the breakthrough and acts as a conversation between her and her father. If you’ve suffered any kind of traumatic loss, this song acts as a very real encouragement to keep on living; it gets better.
Putting the message aside for just a moment, the way this song is structured is such a departure from today’s normal. We say that as the biggest accomplishment, mainly because the more music we listen to, the same it all sounds. However, what Jill has created here really does act as that conversation that’s stemmed from her powerful yet delicately emotional delivery. Her voice is unique in the sense that while she’s giving it her all on the vocal front, it’s like as if she’s talking directly to the listener. Paired with a budding instrumentation that steps it up even more, the entire package of the track is flawless in every sense of the word. We were unfamiliar with Jill Fiore before “Away From Me”, but it’s given us the drive to do a deep dive on the rest of her discography.
