Jett Jenkins shares her edgy debut single, "City In Anger"
Making a huge statement on her debut single titled “City In Anger”, newcomer Jett Jenkins has definitely impressed us with her first work. Read on for our in-depth review of the track, in addition to a background on the artist.
Currently based out of Texas, Jett Jenkins is an indie pop songstress who’s just laid out a colorful debut called “City In Anger”. Inspired by the likes of Billie Eilish and Blondie, she’s managed to infuse her own originality into the mix that’s quickly setting her apart from like minded artists in the genre. Needless to say, we’re definitely loving what we’ve heard and can’t wait for everyone to check it out.
We could instantly describe this song as grandiose in sound, but the vocals side of things were surely dramatic and charismatic as well. While it’s certainly classified as indie pop, there was a pop punk edge that showed itself within her delivery and the instrumentals were nicely heavy too. Typically for a debut single, you’d imagine that an artist would still be in the process of finding their sound going forward, however we wouldn’t want Jett to change it too much because we’ve enjoyed what we’ve heard here so much.
Lyrically speaking, she’s made some bold points and offers some hard hitting contextual themes that are definitely worth connecting the dots over. Songs mean different things to different people, so make sure to pay close attention when playing this one. A word of warning though, our recommendation here would be to crank it loud, it just got that much better and the emotions ran even higher in the best way possible.
At just a tad under four minutes in total run time, we’ve legitimately got zero complaints or critiques. Jett Jenkins has done an outstanding job putting together something memorable and it’s got our expectations set high for a fruitful musical career going forward. With that being said though, now’s about the time we’ll go ahead and recommend you check out the links below where you can listen, follow along, and stay tuned for everything going forward. Enjoy!
