Jackson Watson shares his exceptional sophomore album, "Numb"

Finally released after a series of hype-building singles, Jackson Watson’s sophomore album Numb is out and it’s fantastic. Do yourselves a favor and read on for a closer look into the record, as well as an update on this talented artist.

Capturing the essence of the summer time on this indie pop-inspired record titled Numb, Jackson Watson has managed to create a well rounded listening experience that focuses on all facets of his artistry. Directing the listeners towards personal experiences in his lyricism, a sharp production, and of course his vocals that act as the cherry on top, we’re loving everything that he’s served up with Numb. If for some reason this happens to be your introduction to his music as a whole, we can think of no better place to start than here.

With inspirations coming from pop heavy hitters such as Michael Jackson, Harry Styles, and many more, our initial reaction of Numb was just how it takes all the elements of modern day pop music and still elevates itself through originality and freshness. Clocking in at 12 total tracks, the entirety of this record was written and produced by Jackson over the course of two years. As the production is certainly a focal point and major highlight, it’s hard to deny that the themes covered here aren’t important as well. Each song does a spectacular job of focusing on his life, zooming in on specifics like “love, loss, hope, patience, trust, lust, self-reflection, and more”.

You immediately get immersed on the opener “Let’s Surf”, and for the most part, the mood and tone of Numb stays incredibly consistent from start to finish. There’s definitely a wide range of genres that present themselves like pop, funk, soul, and even glimmers of jazz through specific horn-filled instrumentals. If there’s one thing that this album does correctly, it’s constantly weaving in and out innovative motifs, never sounding like the same thing from song to song. Our standouts were undoubtedly “All Your Love”, “Sweet Talk”, and “Silver”, but really the album flows flawlessly untouched from the beginning.

As we get into the colder months where we’re located, 100% it’s going to be albums like this that bring us a sense of energy, optimism, and vibrance. The versatility is endless and we’re already patiently waiting for its follow up! Go ahead and celebrate its release with a listen by clicking the important links below.
