Freshly released in the month of May, Ink to Spill are back with yet another instantly loveable single, “Hollow Bar of Gold”. Please read along with us as we share our complete thoughts on the track, as well as a refresher on the band as well.

It’s been a little bit since we last covered Ink to Spill and their single, “Chalk Lines”, but thankfully the band is back and better than ever with the release of “Hollow Bar of Gold”. As is their typical fashion, you can expect an intimate acoustic experience that features hard hitting lyrics, a complex message and themes covered, and something to leave you thinking about. We’re highly recommending a listen.

According to the band on the single, “it tells a story about what happens when greed gets the best of a person.The messy family drama proves that money can bring out the worst in people and we want to share this story with your readers”. What seems like an overly common occurrence these days is best summed up by songs like these that are living through the experience.

Coming in at close to five minutes in run time, this was a lyrically focused track that took a couple listens for us to really get the full message across. We don’t want to discount the instrumentation here, as it was fantastic in its own right, but the real focus here is on the themes being covered and the story that the lyricist is trying to get across. Just like “Chalk Lines”, it feels like Ink to Spill’s goal is to bring awareness to subjects that can be tough to talk about in everyday life, but feel easier to express in musical form.

What we loved about this single the most is that it's raw and real. You can hear the pain and toughness in the vocalist's voice, as this is most likely an issue he or someone close has had to deal with. The positive here is that although tough choices had to be made, it still made for a fantastic track that fits perfectly within the band’s discography.

Wrapping it up though, this is absolutely both a song and a band that we wholeheartedly feel you need in your lives. It’s about as original as it gets and there’s no sugar coating in the slightest. Don’t miss out on “Hollow Bar of Gold”, make it a must listen in your music queue. Enjoy!
