Trish Discord gives triumphant performance on single, "Strife"
All set for release on May 21st, 2021, we got the incredible opportunity to listen to Trish Discord’s latest single, “Strife”. We’re loving it! Read along for our full in-depth look into the track, as well as a background on the artist as well.
Influenced by the Brooklyn grunge scene, Trish Discord is an independent alternative artist from Queens, NY. Compared to legends like Evanescence and The Cranberries, she’s also inputting a heavy dose of signature sound into everything she produces. On her latest, “Strife”, we couldn’t help but immediately fall in love with every facet of its overall sound.
Considering she’s got two degrees in Psychology, it turns out that was the inspiration for incorporating mental health issues into her music. Specifically on this new single though, the context is revolving around the political events of 2016 in both the United States and the United Kingdom. As lyrically dense as the track was, it was also an absolute pleasure to listen to the commanding feel that she’s input here.
We’ll be honest right off the bat. This was our first introduction to the music of Trish Discord, but after being blown away by this four and a half minute thriller on first listen, she’s managed to create fans for life. What starts out with a slow build in sound, quickly escalates into a synth-filled frenzy of emotion. While the backing instrumentation is certainly impressive here, we couldn’t help but be taken by hold by the vocal presence of Trish. It single handedly carried the song and made us focus immediately.
It would be fairly difficult to nitpick and say something was “wrong” with this song, because it just resonated so much with us. Having lived through the events of 2016, it’s not tough to relate with the themes being presented. The way that Trish has incorporated a strong message into a triumphant performance is unprecedented and we seriously can’t wait to dig into the rest of her discography. While we don’t know for sure, it’s basically guaranteed there’ll be more gold to uncover.
