Erin Greider recounts her personal experience on lead single, "Loser"

Undoubtedly the focal point of Erin Greider’s debut album Sim Controllers, we’re shifting our focus to the artist’s lead single off the record, “Loser”. Please read on for a closer look into the track, as well as a background on the artist.

Currently based out of Los Angeles and fresh off the release of her debut album Sim Controller, Erin Greider has consciously put together a record that reverberates the “angst-ridden emotions of a turbulent relationship”. Through thoughtful lyricism expressing these personal adventures and Erin’s vocals that take charge from start to finish, we’ve found it to be the ideal entry point into a complete listen of the rest of the album. Without a doubt though, “Loser” comes out as one of the many bright spots.

As a multi-instrumentalist and singer, she’s delicately crafted this piece to reflect her growing up as a teenager and all the complications that come with that. Not just on “Loser”, but on the album itself, she takes the listener on a journey through difficult relationship experiences, the feeling of a first love, and overall confusion. No matter the gender you identify with, we can confidently say that through these series of stories, there’s more than enough relatable content to get a feel for where she’s come from. Chances are though that you’ll find a song or two that hit a little too close to home.

Part of what she’s done here that makes this stand out from the rest is the sheer amount of passion and openness that you can feel from song to song. Focusing in on “Loser”, she’s juxtaposed a slightly bright instrumentation with a semi-depressing story. Erin doesn’t hit too hard on the negative as most of the song features plenty of bright spots and an optimistic nature, but there’s plenty of deep lyricism that makes you stop and connect the dots through everything she’s experienced. If anything, this song feels like the pivotal moment in the record itself considering it comes towards the end of the full album.

With all that being said though, we sincerely hope that you’ll give this song and the rest of Erin Greider’s music a shot. It’s beautiful in its own way and displays an endless amount of artistry.
